Beginning of the Year 2008 Newsletter!!!

Happy New Year Everybody!!!

January - February 2008

Dear Supporting Churches & Friends!

"Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee." Psalms 118:28

Well well well... this sure is 2008 and I can't believe it has already arrived! Last year flew by like a BEE! Last year went by so fast! I am just glad we are in the 2008!! I hope it will slow down a bit!

Welcome into the 2008 folks! Many of y'all have made resolutions for 2008. I myself don't believe in Resolutions, BUT my goal is to see many more deaf and hearing both get saved this year!! I just wanna praise my Lord for 2008 and that HE still is on the throne and in the Saving Business! I love it when I see someone gets saved... don't you? This is a whooooooole lot better than any football games! Even Super Bowl! (I still want Patriots to win!), the game is only temporary, but the soul lasts forever. I am SO looking forward to this newest year of 2008! I hope and pray y'all are too!

First please let me share you the News Flash before I begin.
Important News Flash - Word have spread like fire recently last year of my possible moving to Michigan from Virginia.... When I was up there apt hunting... all of them apts have closed on me... it was obvious that the Lord does not want me to move to Michigan.. the Lord wants me to stay put in VA. I will NOT be moving up to Michigan... my home church is there yes... but I won't be moving up there. I needed to let y'all know that I will not be moving to Michigan since the Lord now allowing me to.

Now I can begin the news:
Last year been a rocky year for me spiritually with family situations... this year is a brand new year and I aim HIGH on the Lord big time and I aim high to see what the Lord has in store in 2008 for me. Already HE has opened some doors! Here they are:

March thru first part of June - I will be staying at my home church (Liberty Baptist Church) in my RV ( the old one thats coming apart) and I will be teaching ASL and reaching the deaf in the area.

June for 3 weeks I be on the road for campmeetings and meetings ... in Marquette, Michigan... Buffalo, Wyoming... and meetings on the way back home to VA.

July - 2 weeks campmeetings the last 2 weeks of July..... Dayton, Ohio and my home church at Liberty Baptist Church.

August - I will be at Southmont, NC at HeavenBound Baptist church teaching ASL and hunt for the deaf in the area.

Sept - Campmeetings whole month... Manistee, Michigan.... Flatwoods, WV.... and the 3rd Annual Foothills Deaf Bible Campmeeting on the last weekend of Sept.

October - meetings on the road to midwest and back to home to VA.

November - I will be teaching ASL at the New Hope Ranch for Girls in Society Hill, SC for the girl's credit for their school.

December - Jan - NO meetings

This is gonna be one busy year... and I am on fire for this year! Please you continue to pray for me as I continue to bushwack through anything to keep satan off my back so I can continue to do my Lord's work that HE had called me to do.

I am thrilled to share with you that this year on August 28th will be my 23 years being saved. This year marks my 22 years being a Def Missionary and being on the road since 1991 right after I graduated from College. Many of you have known I been thru all kinds of obstacles all last year and year before all because of my family.... I want you all to know that I AINT about to quit, give up, throw in the towel, etc that goes with them words.... I aim to keep going and bushwack through for the sake of my people who are deaf and most of all for the sake of our Lord who died for them. I thank you all for standing by me both in prayers and financially and also physically standing with me and helped me and motivate me and encouraged me to STAY IN THE FIGHT! (thanks Bro. David Spurgeon! I love them words!) Right now I am walking through the fire (faith) now more than ever. Please my Supporting Churches... keep staying with me... keep being my supporting bushwackers... keep encouraging me... and most of all keep sending your prayers to the Lord for HIM to keep pushing me to keep on going.

Here are my Praise, Prayer Needs, and Prayer Requests:

Praises!
1. 94 souls saved in 2007 - lets rescue more this year in 2008!
2. This month just shortly after Christmas - at the Craftmens for Christ Banquet in NC - I was thrilled to see my new Prayer need that I needed!!! ---- C330 Garmin GPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was tickled to death!
3. First time EVER since I been speaking 8 times at the HEARING Ladies Retreats and Meetings through the years - this coming May 16th and 17th - I will be speaking at the Deaf Ladies Meeting at Liberty Baptist Church of the Deaf. I will be speaking about Walking Through The Fire. Please pray for me... this is my first time speaking to the DEAF ladies! I am SO looking forward to that! We gonna hav a great time and I am trusting the Lord will be speaking to the hearts of them precious ladies!

Prayer Needs:
1. Newer RV (Deisel, 35 feet long, 1 slide out, Class A and low mileage)... why do I need one? I will gladly share with you... I will soon be 46 years old next month... my body is not getting along with tenting anymore... even though I still tent between meetings just to save money from motels.... RV will be great help for me and also whenever I am at the church helping teaching and all that... I will have a home to live in while I am there... my home will still be here in Virginia yes I have a home here... but I need a RV for me to live in while I am helping churches and able to go to meetings. And also I can be able to pull over to rest when I need to because sitting in 1 position in the van is like flying across country in sitting position is not good for legs.... RV is something that would help me physically so I can pull over to rest and elevate my legs when needed and keep going til I get to the next Church. My RV outside my home right now as I write this is literally 21 years old now... I have bit over 3,000.00 on the side now for the newer one... I am trying to raise anoter 45 thousand dollars OR the Lord to provide one somehow. I am trusting the Lord to provide the funds or in His own mysterious way.

2. Pray for my green ford van to stay alive..... this year be 7 years having it and it is running great with the help of some mechanics folks of mine.... shop near by... and one guy who is living in WV who is known as "flatlips" to me bec he haarrrrrrrrrrrrrrd to lipread! Through them guys helping my poor van to stay alive because it has lots of mileage now! It is nearing 240,000 miles now.

3. GPS is off the list now since I now have it from CFC banquet! AMEN!

4. Need more supporting Churches

5. Need backbones prayer warroirs out there be my line of Bushwacker's Prayer Warriors.

Prayer Requests:
1. More Deaf and Hearing souls be SAVED this year!

End of the Year 2007 Newsletter

Merry Christmas!!

AND

Happy New Year in 2008!!

Hey Hey Hey! It’s this time of year again! Christmas is here again! As I can see daily wherever I go… people shopping, singing Carols, baking, decorating Christmas things, sliding on icy roads, children laughing on snow, temperatures dropping, scenery changing due to weather, people traveling to families and friends, etc. Don’t ya love that time of year? I am sure you folks do! It is also that time of year (as it should be everyday) to remember why Jesus came! I am SO thankful that August 28th, 1985, I asked Jesus to come into my heart at Trinity Baptist College, on 4th floor at Bro. Steve Houghton’s (pastor to the deaf ) office. The best Christmas gift in the world is receiving the Lord into one’s heart! Ain’t that grand or what?!?!? For me it was!

Well, this year 2007 has been a very interesting year! Very challenging too! Let me see if I can fill ya folks in in this Newsletter.

In January this year of 2007, I became dead to my own family, but this year I have “gained” 3 beautiful young men to be my “sons” and I love them dearly with my heart. Two of them I took as my sons last year in 2006 and he is an Evangelist also another is a Pastor and my 3rd son got added on…. but growing slowly… he will be soon be pastor as well. I praise the Lord for Him bringing them to my life and being part of my life and I in them. I may have lost my own… but the Lord sent others my way. I have many people look up to me as “2nd mama” and I loved being that! Even though, in my heart I always dreamed of adopting a deaf boy to be my very own son, so I can raise him to be what the Lord would have him be. But these young men who are my “sons” I been praying for them as they serve the Lord best they can! I have already begun praying for their children as 3 already called me “grandma” and that I would love to see what the Lord has in store for them!

This year I praise the Lord for my supporting Churches who stuck by me both financially and prayerfully as I continue to reach souls both deaf and hearing for the Lord and so far this year 94 souls been saved! I am truly looking forward to next year in 2008 what HE has in store! I want to see more souls saved next year and that as well as helping churches along the way as well! I also praise the Lord for HIS hands under my both van and especially RV to keep them rolling as I were at Campmeetings all over the country, especially in the east. That RV out there in my driveway at home in VA… each time I come out the door and in my van… I can literally see the walls of my RV popping apart from the body. That poor thing needs to be retired from the ministry. I am soooooo thankful for that RV out there and it was good to me since I first had it. I can’t trust that thing outside of VA and NC states… but I am taking a chance to take it with me next year to Michigan in March to begin teaching at my home church in Belleville for 3 months. I am also take a chance to take That with me up in the UP (Upper Penisula) Michigan for Camp- and to

Campmeeting and meetings in Wyoming and back to Michigan in June and another one in July and Deaf

Camp in August. Who knows how long that RV of mine gonna hold. I am seriously praying that

somewhere out there, the Lord has a newer RV for me… I am praying for Class A 35 feet with 1 slideout

and low mileage and of course diesel. Something that it can be homey for me as I work at churches and for

meetings and so on. So please join me in prayer for newer one. I already have 3,000 dollars on the side.

Need more.

In August of this year, the Lord sent me to Liberty Baptist Church in Belleville, Michigan to be my home

church. Boy I tell ya, That church there stands behind me and I am so thankful for them and they made

me feel right at home, they stood behind me in prayer and even in hard time. I will begin teaching there in

March of next year.

Sept of 2007 been such a blessed time! We had 2nd Annual Foothills Deaf Bible Campmeeting, boy I

tell you… Satan been battling me time after time after time to not have this, but me a bull head Missionary

ain’t letting him have it! We had a grand time and 3 precious souls were saved! I am still talking about that!

October, I was on the road to Michigan, MO, Wyoming, back to Michigan and then home to VA. The

meetings were wonderful! In Wyoming I was able to be with 3 of my 4 supporting churches… we had a

blast! I go out there every year in June but this year I put it to October. I be back out there again next year

guys! I love to be with them to share what the Lord done in ministry as well as in my life and also to

continue to reach souls for the Lord!

November of 2007, Being Thanksgiving month… I am usually home from the road from November thru to

end of January for reasons because of Holidays. I don’t like to have meetings in November and December

and Jan. Weather reasons for safety from the roads and folks spending time together with their families

during the Holidays. I had opportunity to with a family in West Virginia and it was such a blessed couple of

days! Seeing the beauty of God’s Creation up there!

Now December 2007, I am looking forward to spending the Holidays with one of my “sons” and his

family with me on the 22nd and spend Christmas at my home. I am also most of all looking forward to

spending Christmas with my FATHER who loved me and died for me and saved my soul. This year will be

the hardest time for me… But Lord willing I will make it thru the year fine.

In 2008, I will be in Fla in Feb for Campmeting, March, Campmeeting in SC, then right after that, I head

up to my church in Michigan to begin teaching and training (pray for me!) and in May I will be speaking to

the Deaf Ladies in Ohio (first time

Ever!).

Then in June campmetings and meetings in UP, Michigan and Wyoming and SD, July Campmeeting,

August Deaf Camp in Ohio, Sept Campmeeting in WV and my Campmeeting as well (working on the date).

That’s all I know for right now. I am praying heavily to be able to have meetings in the New England States

like VT, NH, Maine, RI, Conn, upstate NY. I never had meetings in them states except in Rochester NY

one time. I am praying that the Lord would lead me to churches there and other places and gain more

supporting Churches.

I want to take a opportunity to thank my few new supporting churches in Michigan for taking me on as

your Missionary. Calvary Baptist and Oak Street Baptist. Thank you very much for taking me on! You

been such blessing to me! Folks please keep me in prayer as I will be searching for more supporting

churches that would take me on so I can continue to do more for the Lord.

I want to take this time to wish you all a Very Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year in 2008! May

y’all travel safe on the road as you be going to ya families. Even from Weather risks that is going on right

now, I pray y’all be safe and warm and cozy in your homes. Let’s continue to serve our Father together in

all ways as we possibly can. Time is short, of course, and there is more work to do.

Thank you folks out there for your continuously supporting me both financially and prayerfully and I pray

that you would continue to do so! Many more deaf out there that needs the Lord as well as hearing!

I am gonna add a funny picture in here for you and I pray you will enjoy it.

 I have PRAISES!

1. 3 precious souls saved at 2nd Annual Foothills Deaf Bible Campmeeting

2. Church provided me brand new tires to my van! 2 were really in bad shape…. Gave me 4 new ones!

3. Also got new cruise cord… makes it easier for my legs to move around in driver seat!

4. Bro. Paul Beatty and his church gang helped with cooking of our deaf Campmeeting—THANKS GANG!!!

5. Chapel of Prayer—THANKS GANG!!!! For allowing us deaf to use the Victory Campground!!!

6. New Supporting Churches!

I have PRAYER Needs:

1. need GPS (praying for one for Christmas)

2. Newer RV Class A with slide out and about 35 feet long and low mileage and diesel.

3. Newer vehicle—van now nearing 235 thousand miles on it… it is hanging in there.

I have Prayer Requests:

1. Please pray for my 2 half brothers and 1 half sister… I am dead to them now, but they still need the Lord in their lives.

2. I need more supporting Churches—am up to about 65% now.

3. More meetings for 2008 in the New England parts (New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine, Mass, Conn, RI, NY, PA)

Til’ Next year, Merry Christmas Y’all!

January - August 2007

Dear Supporting Churches & Friends,

“Where there is no vision, the people perish:” Proverbs 29:18a

Wow, what powerful verse! I think of this verse in my case is to the deaf people who are still hungry for the Gospel of Christ! I am so thankful that this verse is in God’s Word!

Howdy folks!, been lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng time I know! Actually it been since December Newsletter! You can check out my End of the Year Newsletter 2006 in my Website…. www.reachingthedeaf.com … I have new website now and please from time to time… check it out!

First of all I wanna apologize from my heart for not sending newsletter since December… so much been going on. But my Lord still on the Throne! AMEN! Please accept my apology for this laaaaaaaaaaaaate Newsletter! I will fill ya in in here of this year as best as I can.

January—it was unusually hard month… I became “dead” to my family… simply after I witnessed to my 2nd half brother and they all 3 cut all ties to me. I am dead to them… this is the reason for this year’s not able to write Newsletter… but the main reason is that… years ago… I was drilled in my head by some people that if I write bad news in the newsletter or sad news… the preachers will throw it away. This year I had talk with dear friend in Wyoming… told her of it… she kinda helped me “undrill” that outta me slowly…. And told me that is not true. So now with the encourage words of hers and the others and the Lord’s help… I am writing this. Pastors… I ask you please don’t throw this away… sometimes it is good to “hear” news from Missionaries like myself… so you all can better know what to pray on for them. In my case.. It is my family situation. They are still not saved… please pray for my 2 half brothers and 1 half sister. Thank you!

Now I begin the good news of the Newsletter…

January—April: I went to Lake City, Florida at Tabernacle Baptist Church and stayed there during this months of Jan thru April… I went to build up the training of the group who were in the ASL class with me. I had opportunity to help them build their skills at ASL (American Sign Language) and taught them how to go visiting to the deaf and was able to make a lot of contacts… taught them how to do right by Interpreting in their Church. When I left their Church… the deaf began to come from all walks of life. I had very limited time being there but they have done wonderful job and now are having deaf coming from time to time. I will be with them again next year in 2008 Campmeeting in the first full week of February.

May: This month I had opportunities to go to many churches for the Campmeetings and also for my Meetings to present my Ministry with some of the Churches. I have seen folks gotten saved… many hearts became right with the Lord! I have seen altars gotten full during my singing times. There is 1 person during this month… I was at meeting at Crossroads Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC and they have meeting…. I was asked to sing and at each song I done… I was watching this particular boy in the audience. His name is Jake. Sweet boy, son of the Pastor. I never seen him come to church with his Bible. Made me wonder. Next day I was aiming to head home but the Lord was tugging my heart to talk to him. I was staying at friend’s home and I asked them to call for him. I had my bible ready and prepared to talk to him but not opened. When Jake came over… lead him to the kitchen table. I was informed the night before that he told his neighbors who I was staying with that he was going to hell. That is NOT normal for any kids to say that out loud. When he arrived and gave him pop to drink … we sat down… I asked him… If you were to die… where will you go? His response? HELL. That the Lord helped me open his eyes what hell is like… and what heaven is like… and why Satan got him and why Jesus wanted him. After a few minutes dealing with him… I asked.. Where do you wanna go? His response? HEAVEN! Lead him to simple sinners prayer and he sweetly asked the Lord into his heart!!! What a DAY that turned out! I gave Jake his new Bible to help him start fresh and a journal book to keep track what the Lord done in his life! Now I am praying for Jake… I ask you to keep Jake in your prayers that the Lord will use him in great way in the future!

June: I had wonderful opportunity to go where I never been before! No not the space! LOL But to the UP! UP stands for Upper Peninsula Michigan. I was asked to come be part of the Campmeeting with Pastor Mac Woody up there. What a wonderful Campmeeting it was! I had opportunities to meet other preachers a have a chance to be with them at their Churches at later on time. While up there, I had learned my Baptist history that I had never learned before! I learned that early Missionaries in my country—America—had persecuted them Missionaries for God’s cause! I was shocked! I always knew other countries persecuted! But never in mine! That week had me me so angry with tears coming down my face of why wasn’t I taught that. That week also have helped me build my guts more to spread God’s word to my people. I am so thankful I was asked to come up there to the UP! Will be back again next year! I wonder what else they got under their sleeves?

July: This month has been kinda crazy month of going like a yo-yo up and down. Came home from the Michigan for few days then head up to Ohio for couple days at Dayton, Ohio at Charity Baptist Church then home again for the night then up to WV to another campmeeting! Then home again and then to NC meetings. July been yo-yo month of meetings in all directions! God was great with me! I have seen souls saved this month too!

August: This month is a fun month! I will tell ya why. I had meeting in Lenoir with Pastor David Woods, at Sunrise Baptist Church. Before I came down… I had RV trouble trying to get it started because it been sitting for about 3 months. Made it down there close to midnight. Safe! Sunday, the 12th in the morning… I shared my testimony of the deaf and my life a bit… then sang some songs… then preacher preached….during the invitation… a young lady was up front...crying… I was wondering what going on… being deaf I can’t hear anything… but I sure was watching! Saw preacher got down on his knees and I looked to his son for some sign… sure enough that young lady got saved! GLORY!! I love it when I see souls saved! There is nothing in the world that can top that when someone gets saved!

The 28th, which is today. Is a Special Day! Let me tell you a short story. Many years ago… There was a young lady…. Who was downright lost and didn't know it, she thought she was saved thru hand-shaking of the preacher at 14 years old! One day, she went to Bill Rice Ranch and met Bro. Steve Houghton there. He was the Pastor to the deaf at Trinity Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Fla at the time. Bro. Steve and that deaf youngun… went talking long time. He thought she was strong Christian and so did she. Then the Lord opened the way for her to go to Trinity Baptist College. She made it there. She arrived on the 16th of August which was on Friday. During the time… from the 16th thru the 28th. She was in classes and one of them was with Bro. Appleby. He had a habit of giving plan of salvation in his class to make sure his students are saved before he begins. During that time, he was talking about sin, hell, heaven, who satan was, why Jesus came and all that. She had interpreter in class with me. First time ever, thru the hands of the interpreter, the Gospel was presented. That day on the 28th, in cafeteria, she was hungry and convicted to heavily and was driving her out of her head! She chose to ignore the food and ran all 4 floors up to Bro. Steve Houghton’s office. With fear in her heart, asking him “satan tried to keep me from believing Bible say, what can I do?” she asked him that… he told her “sit down” and she did… he asked her one main question that was never asked before….” have you ever reprented and received Jesus in your heart??????” She couldn't remember and sat there for 15 minutes trying to remember something, but couldn't remember nothing. Not even the handshake, bec that aint the right answer right there. Time was 3 and he said that he had to go pick up his three children from school… she didn't’ want him to leave and leave her lost there… she then bowed her head and asked the Lord to come into her heart! When she looked up… she saw him drying with his hankershief! She asked him… why you crying? He said “you got saved girl!” Huge smile came on her face! That day…. August 28th, 1985, Maria Christina Podbereski, at age 23, got saved! Yep! That’s why today is my Special Day! Bro. Steve Houghton… if ya reading this… I THANK YOU from leading me to Christ!!!!!!!!! I love you!

Another event happened this month! Back in May, the Lord was tugging my heart to move my membership to another church. I didn’t know at the time. But I knew something was going on. June… I came thru Belleville, Michigan. It is always the stop over for me when I come thru. I always stay at Red Roof Inn when I am stopping over. I always visit Liberty Baptist Church when I come thru. It was then at that time I had the hunch that the Lord was up to something. End of July, I knew then that the Lord wanted me to move my membership to Michigan… but needed much prayer for preace and His will. Sure enough it was true… as of August 15th…. I am now member of Liberty Baptist Church of Belleville, Michigan, my pastor is Dr. Tim McCoy. Next year in early part of year 2008, I will be moving up there. I believe it is right and is wise to do so and also have opportunity to serve at my church there. I am still Deaf Missionary and singer oh yes that don’t change… I just move 10 and half hours more away from VA. I am proud be member of LBC and honoured that Dr. Tim McCoy is my Pastor. I met hime 4 years ago in NC campmeeting at the Gassaways. But 4 years later, we both never dreamed that he be my Pastor and me his Missionary and member. When the Lord tells me go I go. The information is at the bottom of my newsletter.

Since Jan thru now… 37 precious souls both deaf and hearing been won to Christ! I have many stories to share… it would take pages and pages to tell! But the story about Jake comes to my eyes. Hope you enjoyed it!

Even though I been thru such hard times for year and half… Lord been my sustainer, my tower, my strength… am still going thru hard times being “dead” to my family, but I aint quitting no way now how. I need all you to keep me in your prayers and that many more be won to Christ!

I thank you sooooooooo much to standing by me! Praying for me! Supporting me! Most of all… we stand together to reach souls for HIM!
